The 1st step you need to get is to accept and come to terms with the fact that you won’t be able to do active and real physical sports for a good while. This is the stage when athletes have difficulties facing reality. Basically, that’s why it is essential that you start rehabilitation right after your surgery. At 1st, the pain will be a bit excruciating whenever you do the required exercises. On top of this, you’ll be advised to do a leg press repeatedly to bring back the strength and balance of your muscles and knee.

You will feel your knee getting stronger and more stable, right after several weeks of therapy. You can begin bending your knee a little. You may ride a bicycle or do some treadmill exercises. It will be crucial that you do all of your exercises to stabilize and strengthen your knee muscles. You should not overdo it though. If you are there will be swelling and itchiness, these are the signs that you are doing too much. You can begin doing leg squats and curls to boost your strength when you are about 6 or 7 weeks along. These exercises are hugely effective in aiding your recovery from your ACL tear.
